come up with. Approximately a year later, I called again, and she still had the car and was in need of the money. I just wanted to see it, and have Larry my Husband look at it. The Owner had it parked at a different location, and when Larry saw her turn the corner in it, he said, "Oh my God, that is beautiful!" I hope he meant the car. I knew then that the car was mine. After driving it and telling her we would take it, she said, " whether you do or don't is O.K. with me, because I really hate to give it up." After a week and a check later, we went to pick it up. We became close with this woman because we could tell this was very upsetting for her to part with this element of her life(her mailbox had a Mercury eblem and her dog was named Comet). We exchanged addresses and phone numbers, and after a hug and with tears in her eyes, we drove off with her watching us until we were out of sight. Since then, I have entered "My First Love" in car shows and won a few trophies and just had fun driving with the top down and the heat on.
The current Owner of this car is M. Charlene Bensheimer; her Father was the late Marion J. Moran.
Odd,- we both have someone that's passed that gave us fond memories of "our" Comet.
